Bill Conover is a long time Gold Team Member with Long & Foster Real Estate and a proud Sumner neighbor with nearly four decades of experience living across the DMV. Before becoming a Realtor, Bill spent nearly 30 years in public affairs television at C-SPAN, where he honed the communication, listening, and calm-under-pressure skills that now serve his clients every day.

Bill’s passion for real estate started long before his career did. He purchased his first home in Georgetown in 1996—enjoying the search far more than his wife did—and his second in Glen Mar Park in 2003. In 2013, he found his family’s forever home in Sumner the same way he approached every move: with curiosity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to literally knock on doors. He wasn’t a Realtor yet—just someone who genuinely loved the process of matching people (including himself) with the right home.

Today, Bill brings that same passion to his clients. Known for his laid-back, low-pressure, good-humored style, he believes real estate should be honest, informative, and even fun. He wears jeans, not pretense. He’s not here to impress you with a flashy car—he’s here to impress you with genuine care, deep local insight, and straightforward advice. Clients appreciate that Bill shares both the pluses and the minuses of every home and makes the entire experience far less stressful.

A DMV resident since 1986, Bill has lived in Virginia, Washington, DC, and for the past 22 years, Bethesda. As a Board Member of the Sumner Citizens Association, he’s deeply connected to the neighborhood and loves its friendly neighbors, unbeatable proximity, excellent schools, timeless charm, and strong sense of community.

At home, Bill is a devoted family man and dog dad to Petey the Corgi—an essential (and adorable) part of the team. He’s grateful for the life his family has built here and is passionate about helping others find a home—and a community—they love just as much.
